Avoid the Fall Fallback!

fall

We are heading into the Fall and it seems like COVID is back, and in force (not that it ever left). This is frustrating, confusing, and perhaps gives you some anxiety. I get it. I am there with you. All of this uncertainty heading into what is always one of my favorite seasons—the beginning of school, the weather beginning to cool off, and the leaves starting to change—is upsetting.

You might be tempted to seek comfort in old habits; junk food, heavy, rich, comfort foods, more couch time than might be good for you, and desserts to name a few. It is only natural to want to draw towards these old, cozy habits. Also as the weather turns chilly, falling back into these habits might happen as we creep towards Fall.

Avoid the Fall fallback!

Don’t slip back into your old, comfortable habits. It might seem like a good idea at the time, but you will soon be dismayed to have lost the wonderful progress that you have made with your physical fitness.

To avoid the Fall fallback, here are a few things that you can do:

1) Find some new comfort foods.

If your old comforting fall backs are too high in calories or fat content to suit your new lifestyle, see if you can find some lower calorie alternatives. See our delicious recipe collection on our website here to get some ideas. Or, you can substitute some healthier options into your favorite recipes and see how they taste. You might not even notice the difference.

2) Find a new exercise routine or activity.

As Fall and cooler weather looms, and COVID cuts off some activity choices, you might find yourself feeling like you have limited activity choices. Or maybe you are bored by all of your usual physical fitness activities. Whatever the reason, try and shake things up by finding something new. Challenge yourself with a new fitness class. Get a membership to an indoor pool. Or come by the studio and tell us you’re looking for a new challenge, and we will certainly find you one!

3) Get support.

The truth is everything is harder without support. If you need some extra support, encouragement, and guidance to help you stay the course, please, give us a call. We LIVE for this stuff. We can help you keep fast to your goals and not lose the progress you have made.

I have more tricks up my sleeve. But I read an article claiming we only hold 3-4 items in our conscious mind at a time. So let’s leave it at this, shall we?

Stay strong! Stay healthy! Stay safe! And stay the course. You can do it!
