What To Do When It is Hard to Commit

As the owner of Individual Fitness, I get asked a lot of questions. Questions like:

  • Will I be able to stay motivated? 
  • Am I ready to commit to my health? 

And then there’s the question that hit me right in my heart. 

Because this…this is the question that most people need answered. It’s the question that causes them to not take action when everything is pointing to the fact that they SHOULD take action.

The question is: “Can I afford to make my health a priority?”

This question always hits me in the heart because the truth is you can’t afford NOT to make your health a priority.

A few things to consider

The truth is ignoring your health is not going to help you stay healthy. Often putting your health on the back burner is what leads to serious (and expensive) health problems down the road. 

It is best to take action while you can still make significant improvements in your health. Preventing disease is a lot easier than trying to battle disease once it has already set in. Regular exercise has been proven to prevent many chronic diseases, such as:

  • Heart disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Some types of cancer
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Dementia

Your action plan

We’ve seen far too many people in denial until it is too late. They know that they should do something about their health and fitness, but there is always some good reason that they have why they can’t take action. Most of the time it is the money. Maybe they think that they can do it all by themselves (even if that has never worked in the past). And yes, you definitely can do it yourself, if you are disciplined and if you have good support, and if you get really serious. But, a lot of times, it is easier to get support and personalized assistance. Which is what we at Individual Fitness provide. 

So, if you are ready to improve your health and get back to a fitness level that enables you to do more, enjoy your life more, and prevent chronic disease, here is what you can do:

First…Pick your WHY.

Why do you want to get fit? Picking a deep, meaningful why is essential to enabling you to see this long term goal through. 

Secondly…Decide your goals.

Make your goal specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely. Sometimes it can help to make a series of goals the lead up to achieving your big goal. 

Third…Find support.

If you are going to achieve it, getting support is the best way to get there. If you can do it by yourself, awesome! Way to go. But, if you want and need support, we are here to help you.
