IF Client of the Month
I have wanted to interact with a personal trainer for several years, but I had trouble finding the right fit. I was impressed with IF’s philosophy and testimonials as described on the website and during my initial visit. I had been seeking someone who would really view me as an individual and listen to my concerns, and IF offered that.
With my IF personal trainer Mike’s encouragement, I started a 90-day fitness challenge on March 1st. I had no idea that I would end up completing this challenge in a lockdown! That sure made it interesting. The challenge had several components, and I was able to crush all of them:
- Weight: my goal was to lose 2 lbs. per week. I lost 40 pound in total. My body fat fell by about 1.5%. My cholesterol and triglyceride blood values improved significantly.
- Running: I had never run outside before. By the end of the challenge, I had completed several outdoor 5Ks with a personal best time just under 32 minutes. I also completed a treadmill 5K in 30 minutes. I am now slowly building up my mileage with the goal of running a 10K this fall. Running has become an enjoyable part of my routine.
- Strength: At the start of the challenge, I could do 7 push ups. Now I can do 25. I strength train at home 3 times per week using a variety of workouts customized by Mike, and I can see the results in my body shape.
Mike and John do an excellent job of listening to what I want and responding to my needs. After a few bumps, the transition to distance-meeting via Zoom has worked well. I am glad that they are “teaching me how to fish” so that I can take more and more responsibility for my own health.
You can trust that your IF trainer will listen to your goals and help you find a way to achieve them that is well-suited to your lifestyle. This is not a “one size fits all” program, nor is it “do as I say!”. Rather, your trainer will truly listen and adapt to how you are progressing over time. I also highly recommend a 90 day fitness challenge because it has a time limit and isn’t as daunting as an open-ended program. Go for it!
